Airplane/Airline question!?
I am going from Newark airport to ABQ Albuquerque. I want to fly continental, but they have me on a boeing and them an embraer plane. I will NOT go on an embraer plane. Does continental have a flight with no embraer plane?? Also, what airlines do you reccomend?? Thanks!

The airlines can switch aircraft at any time for your flight. It will be difficult to plan around the aircraft type. If they don't have the load for a large aircraft they may switch to the smaller. Both are safe. There are no better airlines. All about the same.

Your wariness is understandable. Most airline accidents in recent years have involved commuter and regional airlines, and if you are flying an Embraer aircraft, you're on a regional or commuter airline … because Continental doesn't have any of these aircraft. Many major airlines subcontract (code-share) flights to regional or commuter airlines in order to maximize profits. (In the case of Continental, this can mean Pinnacle Airlines, Gulfstream Airlines, etc.) The safety regulations and standards for regional and commuter airlines are much lower than those for the major airlines. Pilots may be far less experienced. The Embraer regional jets themselves are quite safe when properly maintained, but that's not the problem. About half of flights in the U.S. today are subcontracted in this way, which means that you pay for the safety of a major airline but you only get the safety of a regional or commuter airline. Unfortunately, finding an airline that doesn't do this for shorter routes is getting to be more and more difficult in the U.S. Sometimes the only alternative is not to fly. This does not mean that flying on these small airlines is dangerous. It just means that it is significantly less safe than flying on a major airlines own large aircraft with its own crews. And considering that you're still paying the same major-airline fare for the reduced safety, it's worth contemplating before you go.

You can look at Continental's flight schedule and see if they have any other flight that does not utilize an Embraer aircraft. Unfortunately with air travel down and passengers wanting more frequency in flights between cities, airlines are using more regional aircraft. The Embraer aircraft is very safe as I have flown in them before. If you are willing to drive to Philadelphia, maybe you can see if you can fly Southwest Airlines to ABQ. They use 737 aircraft. No regional jets operated by Southwest Airlines.
